EOH appoints Mthembu as new chair

The group considered a number of external candidates but Mthembu stood out due to his industry experience and knowledge of the company.

EOH has appointed Andrew Mthembu as its new chairperson to replace Xolani Mkhwanazi, who died last month after a short illness.

The technology services group said Mthembu joined its board as the lead independent director last June, around the same time that Mkhwanazi was made chair. He has led the board since Mkhwanazi fell ill. He also chairs the Technology and Information Committee and serves on the Audit Committee as well as the Governance and Risk Committee.

Mthembu has occupied a number of roles in the ICT sector, including MD of Vodacom SA, advisor to the Minister of the Department of Public Enterprises on the ICT industry and MD of Murray & Roberts' toll roads concessions business. He now manages his investment company and consults to various clients on ICT strategies.

EOH's shares declined 1% to R5.89 on Friday.
